Nutrition: What are you paying for?

Nutrition: What are you paying for?

posted 12/15/2008
In these times of financial concerns, we are all thinking twice about how we spend our hard earned money. Getting the best value for your dollar is just as important in supplements as in any other daily purchase.

It frustrates us to see people paying good money for supplements that are basically useless, if not harmful to their bodies. You may notice that you have a multitude of nutritional products in your cupboard that you have stopped taking because you didn’t notice a difference in how you feel. You are right in believing that you should notice a difference when you are taking supplements. Do you know what is in your vitamins?

The next time you buy vitamins, you might want to take a look at the ingredients and see just what you are paying for. A lot of vitamin companies out there are adding toxic ingredients and putting them in your supplements as fillers. Now why would a vitamin company do that? The answer is because some of these companies are more interested in their bottom line, than in your health.

When you are buying vitamins, you would normally think that what goes inside the vitamin is what is stated on the label, when in fact, it may have a miniscule amount of the named vitamin (oil, mineral, etc.) when the rest of it is just filler. The trouble with the fillers, such as hydrogenated oils, is that they are extremely toxic and can defeat the purpose of taking the vitamin all together.

When it comes to nutrition and its value, quality before quantity is a must for your health. You would be better off, in some cases, to be taking half of a quality supplement, than twice the amount of a bargain brand.

This is why we choose to carry Nutri-west supplements. They are sold only to health care professionals and are pharmaceutical grade vitamins. All herbs and food concentrates are certified organically grown. All glandular sources (adrenal, thymus support etc) are from certified bovine sources. All nutrients are tested for heavy metals, toxicity and contamination by independent certified labs. No artificial preservatives, colorings, additives, flavorings or stabilizers are used in manufacturing. Their products are the most hypoallergenic products possible. They carefully avoid common allergy-reactive substances, including wheat, yeast and corn. If you are taking the time and effort to maintain your good health with supplements, shouldn’t you be putting the best thing you can find into your body?

When the need arises to tighten our belts, unfortunately, the problem making the most noise usually gets the attention. Waiting for our body to let us know there is a problem before taking preventative measures, is like waiting for our cars to stop on the highway before adding gas or oil. Maintaining our good health should always be a priority. Now, more than ever, we need to support our systems and take care of ourselves physically. As I’ve mentioned in other articles, stress creates more damage to our bodies than anything else we do, and if we can support ourselves nutritionally, our bodies will be able to handle stressful times.

As always, if you have questions, please feel free to call us at 378-5660 or go to our Web site: www.sanjuanholistichealthcare.com. If you would like a print-out of any of our individual supplements, we would be glad to provide that for you as well.
